Secretary - Matthew P. Maez, CBET

My career in HTM started with an AAS in Biomedical Equipment Technology from Brown Mackie College in Tucson, AZ. In the same month I graduated, I became an intern with Hospital Shared Services (HSS) in Colorado. For the last 3 years, I’ve been working at UCHealth between Fort Collins and Denver. I am currently the field service technician responsible for coverage of UCHealth clinics in the southern Denver metro area.

Last year after winning the CABMET Essay Contest and a trip to the AAMI Exchange in Cleveland, I felt compelled to seek more involvement in the networking opportunities and educational classes that are commonplace at symposiums. In Biomed we’re constantly learning. The AAMI Exchange allowed me to gorge myself on information and learn a large amount in a short amount of time. I was exposed to all of the things that are currently trending in the HTM field. I spoke to technicians representing companies from around the world. It was an eye-opening experience.

I decided to run for CABMET Secretary last year to be a part of the behind-the-scenes activities that take place at our own symposium. I had a strong interest in doing my part to increase attendance at the events I’ve enjoyed participating in. As Secretary this year, I’m proud to have been involved with the revamping of our website and hope that it provides a reliable platform to share information. The CABMET Symposium has played a big role in my development in Biomed and I’m happy to be here to assist and give a little bit back.

In September 2020, I’ll have been in Biomed for 7 years.
